OKLAHOMA CITY - Inoveon, an E-health company marketing  digital disease detection and tracking technology over the  Internet, today announced the opening of the Inoveon Evaluation Center in Nashville, TN., a world-class digital  imaging reading center currently specializing in ophthalmic  imaging.

"The  Inoveon Evaluation Center, combined with Inoveon's Internet  digital data transfer system, positions us for growth on a  number of fronts; reading ophthalmic images for medical  diagnosis and as a pivotal platform for clinical trials,"  said Dr. P. Lloyd Hildebrand, M.D., Inoveon co-founder and  chief executive officer.

The  Inoveon Evaluation Center has engaged the entire  administrative and senior reading team of experts from the  prestigious former Vanderbilt Ophthalmic Reading Center. The  Inoveon senior reading team has more than 30 years of  combined experience evaluating images of the eye. Thomas  Leonard-Martin Ph.D., M.P.H., former Director of the  Vanderbilt operation, heads up the team as Director of Evaluation Services, bringing 15 years of experience in the  evaluation of ophthalmic photographs and images. Dr.  Leonard-Martin has worked in ophthalmic research for over 20  years.

The  Inoveon Evaluation Center will continue the staff's work  reading film for patient care and clinical trials of  diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, corneal  opacities and pediatric screening photography for amblyopia  (or lazy eye), while leading in the development of digital  imaging procedures for all of these conditions. Inoveon is actively expanding its fully digital imaging capability from  the realm of patient care into that of clinical research and  trials. "Digital images are a major breakthrough in this  field of traditional film-based imaging. Digital imaging  gives us the capability of offering companies and medical  institutions the quality of film, with the speed,  cost-efficiencies and time-savings of digital images that  can be transferred through Inoveon's unique Internet-based  technology," said Leonard- Martin.

The  Inoveon Evaluation Center is a crucial element in Inoveon's  3DT (Digital Disease Detection and Tracking) system now  being used in a number of commercial applications. 3DT uses  the Internet to rapidly transport high resolution images  taken of a diabetic's retina in a primary care setting to  the Inoveon Evaluation Center where the evaluation team  examines the multiple images for signs of diabetic  retinopathy. An evaluation of the retinal images is returned  to the primary care professional over the Internet in 48  hours so that the patient's own physician can offer  diagnosis and treatment options.

"The  Inoveon Evaluation Center is unsurpassed in the experts,  experience and technology they bring to the digital world of  reading ophthalmic images," concluded Hildebrand.
