 A trained technician performs an iScan™ procedure including visual acuity measurement, pupil dilation, intraocular pressure measurement, and multi-field color stereoscopic digital retinal imaging. The
iScan™ procedure represents a digital implementation of the
NIH gold standard as defined in the DCCT trials. It is the

clinically validated scale for detecting, staging and monitoring DR and
DME. In fact, it offers 98% sensitivity, 90% specificity and
99%
negative predictive value.
Digital images are electronically and securely sent to a centralized reading facility for evaluation by trained experts. With over 65,000 iScans performed, we offer the most experienced service of its kind. |
